350gsm · Matt, Gloss & Soft-Touch · From 25 copies · Printed in Lisburn

Premium Business Card Printing in Northern Ireland

Your business card is often the first physical object associated with your brand that another person touches. It shapes an impression before they read a single word — the weight of the card, the texture of the finish, the sharpness of the print. Getting it right is worth the attention.

At PCR Print, we produce business cards on premium 350gsm stock with a range of lamination finishes from our Lisburn print works. Short runs from 25 copies through to large quantities for growing teams, all at competitive prices and with a free artwork check on every order.

Business card buying guide

1

Card weight and paper stock

350gsm is the professional standard for business cards — it feels substantial in the hand without being excessively rigid, and it takes lamination cleanly without peeling or bubbling. Cards lighter than 350gsm (commonly produced by budget online print services) feel flimsy and give a poor first impression, which defeats the purpose of networking. Our standard business cards are printed on 350gsm silk board, which accepts both lamination and ink uniformly across the sheet. For a card that makes its presence felt the moment someone picks it up, 350gsm is non-negotiable.

2

Lamination finishes explained

Lamination is what most people notice first. Gloss lamination produces a high-shine surface that makes colours pop and photographs look vivid — it is the default choice for bold, colourful, or photographic designs. Matt lamination has a completely flat, non-reflective surface that has become increasingly popular across professional services, creative agencies, and luxury brands: it photographs beautifully, handles fingerprints better than gloss, and gives the card a tactile quality that invites a second look. Soft-touch (velvet) lamination has a subtly rubberised texture — often described as feeling like the skin of a peach — and is the most premium finish we offer. Any laminated card also gains a useful degree of moisture and scuff resistance.

Size, shape, and format options

The standard UK business card size is 85mm × 55mm, and unless there is a compelling brand reason to deviate, this is what we recommend — it fits every cardholder, wallet, and Rolodex insert. Square business cards (55mm × 55mm or 65mm × 65mm) stand out in a cardholder and suit creative, hospitality, and lifestyle brands that want a distinctive first impression. Slim cards (85mm × 42mm or similar proportions) have a modern, considered feel and work well when contact information is minimal and the design itself is the statement. Double-sided printing is strongly recommended on all formats — the reverse is prime real estate for a product image, QR code, or strong brand element.

4

Setting up your artwork

Standard UK business card size is 85mm × 55mm with 3mm bleed on all sides, giving a total file size of 91mm × 61mm. Keep all text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim edge (the safe area) — anything closer will look uncomfortably tight after cutting and risks being trimmed off. Use CMYK colour mode at 300 DPI. If your brand uses specific Pantone colours, convert them to your best CMYK equivalent before supplying the file, as we print digitally and Pantone matching is not available on our standard business card press. We accept PDF, AI, EPS, and high-resolution JPG or PNG.
